Chapter 2

Irene & Sammy aka Nordicllar

Hello! We are Irene & Sammy and we run the instagram account @nordicllar where we share photos of our nordic-inspired home and our travels. Interior design wasn’t always a passion of ours - we met at University about 8 years ago where we both studied film production and Sammy currently works in marketing, video & graphic design for a health company while I run my own business making promotional films and wedding videos. We have always had a love for visuals, photography and travel so when we visited Copenhagen for the first time 3 years ago we fell in love with Scandinavian design and we have been hooked ever since. Before this trip we didn’t always have a clear idea of what we wanted our home to look like. In fact, we’ve been on a bit of a journey for the last three years in terms of interior design! From living in rented properties where we never really thought too much about functionality or balance within a room to really considering how colours, practicality and design can hugely affect the way we enjoy and use our spaces. We now find ourselves carefully making decisions about purchases and considering our choices a lot more than we ever used to, which in turn, means we like to shop and work with brands that put time and care into the ranges and designs they offer. After years of doing quite the opposite, we now embrace the idea that less is more and that each item in our home should be functional and something we really love. A philosophy that Swedish House at Home stands by so when we first came across the online shop, we were immediately impressed by the beautiful selection of items on the website which you can tell have been curated and thoughtfully picked by the lovely owner Michaela. It’s always exciting when one of our favourite shops updates their range of items so when we were asked to pick and talk about our favourite pieces from the website, well, it was a no-brainer. So here we go! Hope you enjoy our picks. Irene & Sammy
